Are you a Service Leaver, Veteran, or Reservist?

Does a career in Technology excite you?

The Opportunity

We are actively recruiting for an exciting Junior Software Developer opportunity with a Tier 1 Investment Bank in Glasgow!

Since 2014, the FDM Ex-Forces Programme has helped over 650 service leavers, reservists and veterans secure employment within the technology sector. You will be employed by FDM, receive fully funded training and then work on a 2-year project with our global investment bank client based in Glasgow. At the end of the 2-years you can continue to stay with FDM and work on other client projects, or are free to transfer to our client permanently if the opportunity arises.

No experience necessary!

A career in Software Development

As an FDM Software Development Consultant, you will gain invaluable hands-on experience using the latest technologies to design and build software solutions. You will learn to create code that is modular, robust, scalable, and maintainable to a professional standard. Our training covers a number of programming languages including Python, Java, .Net and JavaScript frameworks, as well as Cloud platforms such as Azure.

A supported journey into your successful civilian career

Designed by Ex-Forces for Ex-Forces, our renowned programme builds on the skills that you have gained during your time in the military by combining up to date and commercially relevant training with hands-on project experience with big employers. Throughout your journey, you will receive dedicated support from people who have been in your shoes and understand your background.

 12 weeks fully funded training

Training both virtually and out of our FDM Glasgow Academy centre, our consultants learn business skills that will allow them to seamlessly merge into existing teams and hit the ground running. Some of the augmented skills we offer all our consultants during their training include professional skills, time management, Agile Principles and application design fundamentals. We deploy developers who are strong problem solvers, with a logical and analytical mindset, and with excellent communication skills. Our training is designed to equip you with the tools and skills required to deliver in your new role as a Software Developer, and upon training completion, you will become a fully-fledged FDM Consultant. We’ll then connect you with a major financial services company from our diverse client base where you will work on a series of exciting projects.

Whether you are a service leaver, veteran, or reservist, we are here to help you start a career in Software Development.

What we offer you:

  • Full-time employment contract with FDM
  • Up to date and commercially relevant training in our academy centres to equip you with industry skills
  • Opportunities with global companies to get your foot in the door
  • Support from our Ex-Forces team and network
  • Career progression and guidance throughout the programme
  • Two days per annum allocated to support military charities of your choice
  • Opportunity to work throughout the UK and internationally
  • Competitive Salary

What we are looking for:

  • Hard work and commitment

That’s it. You’ve already got the skills we need for you to succeed at FDM, you might just not know it yet.
