The Role

The FDM Ex-Forces Programme is run by ex-service personnel and employs ex-servicemen and women from all ranks and across all three services. The role of the Ex-Forces Recruiter is to recruit suitable candidates for the Ex-Forces Programme, growing the programme and building a pipeline of candidates in order to achieve quarterly recruitment targets. Our programme has been awarded the gold medal by the MoD’s Employer Recognition Scheme.

Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment

  • Be the first point of contact with Ex-Forces personnel interested in the FDM Ex-Forces Programme
  • Take vacancy details and post job adverts across a range of media outlets 
  • ‘Headhunting' – find and approach Ex-Forces personnel for specialist jobs
  • Match role requirements with Ex-Forces personnel 
  • Organise and administer internal and external Ex-Forces events
  • Represent FDM Group at Ex-Forces career fairs & networking events
  • Use social media to attract and educate candidates & promote FDM and the EFP
  • Organise Insight events – including booking rooms, booking food & drink 

Interviews & Assessments

  • Conduct telephone interviews to educate and prepare candidates
  • Screen and shortlist candidates
  • Initial and ongoing data entry using an ATS
  • Prepare candidates for assessment appropriately 
  • Prepare candidate CVs 

Team work

  • Build and maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders including but not limited to: Marketing, HR, the Academy, the Account Managers & Sales Team, the Graduate and Returner Teams 
  • Build and maintain good relationships with external stakeholders including but not limited to: Partner organisations such at the CTP, BFRS, OA, Military charities, recruitment organisations and the British Military 
  • Support and assist other members of the EFP 


Essential Criteria

  • Must have been in the British Military
  • Possess a good understanding of IT terminology and skillsets; must be able to translate military experience,  IT skills and terminology  into civilian language and vice versa 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional manner
  • Initiative, flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Confidence, a good sense of humour and a team player
