FDM Group is a global professional services provider focusing on IT and business, currently looking for bright, highly motivated and talented interns with a passion for IT to join our team over summer 2021. The roles will be primarily office based with some scope to work flexibly.
As a Software Developer Intern, you will work on an in-house project within a group of interns adding value to FDM and providing a solution to a real-life business challenge. Throughout your internship, you will be provided with guidance and support by our Internal Development Team and will gain an understanding of FDM and its business model.
The project involves working with departments across the business to produce an interactive software programme that would demonstrate in a fun and interactive way what coding and programming can achieve. This software programme delivered as part of this project is aimed at individuals who have little or no understanding of the field and intends to demonstrate that software development could be a career path for people with no technical background.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Liaising with stakeholders across the business
  • Communicating and working effectively with other interns
  • Liaising with end users to fix defects and find solutions
  • Investigate the feasibility of change requests and implement possible solutions

Essential criteria:

  • Studying a degree in Computer Science or similar, with coding experience
  • Experience of using C# .Net, Java or any object-oriented language and a general knowledge of back-end and front-end development
  • Effective verbal and written professional communication with outgoing approach
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively within the team and wider organisation and build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to apply logical and critical thinking in order to examine and analyse the information presented and use own initiative to find creative solutions

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience with project work
  • Knowledge of specific web technologies
